GCaMPs, RCaMPs, GRAB etc.) to label calcium

ions or neurotransmitters. Changes in the

target region’s calcium ion or neurotransmitter

concentration cause protein conformational

changes, altering fluorescence intensity. This

alteration, detected by the probe and processed

internally by the instrument, is reflected in the

software.
